On the program The Jackpot, Calvin was described as “a youthful, retired millionaire” who was able to cultivate a womanizing bachelor image. The Canadian entrepreneur grew up with his parents who were Saskatchewan pig farmers. Calvin was able to state in the program that his father use to give him little pigs to raise and sell when the right time comes. The raising pig experience that Calvin had was his stepping-stone in business. After he had gained a degree from Ontario, Calvin then had his MBA in Washington and had his failed medical company. After what had happen, Calvin finally staked all of what he got to Bodog an online gambling brand and luckily hit the jackpot. Soon thereafter, Bodog was having trouble with the United States and the Canadian authorities. Although the said online gambling brand was licensed in Antigua where gambling is considered legal, Bodog is serving players to countries where online gambling is considered illegal, the United States and Canada. According to Calvin, he had never done any business in the United States. All of his businesses are from countries where he had a license. However, as the TV show aired the show of Rod Rosenstein, a US attorney who gets involve in the prosecution the operations of offshore online gambling as an alternative view. According the Rosenstein, every business are subject to the American restrictions as long as it has the customers located in the United States and are communicating them in the said country, no matter where the business is being located.

Bodog considers the year 2006 as the best year for them, as in was in this year where the online gambling brand crossed the $7 billion revenue. As a result, Ayre was featured on the cover of the Forbes annual billionaire issue. However, the year 2006 was also a tough year for Bodog, as this was the year, which the United States of America has started to clamp down the online gambling business. If you all can remember, the CEO of BetOnSports David Carruthers was arrested while changing flights in Dallas and later then sentenced for a 33 months in prison. Also in 2006, the UIGEA was passed and Rosentein went after the online gambling brand Bodog in 2008 and grabbed from the company’s payment processors $24 million amount of money. Ayre on the other hand had to stop travelling to the United States in order to avoid arrest. However, later he announced that he would no longer be operating online gambling sites.

After what had happened, Calvin then showed his expertise in business. He then get the Bodog brand licensed to various online gaming operators from different parts of the world and earns millions of dollars from it. The next episode of the Jackpot will feature about Alwyn Morris, a Canadian Mohawk Indian who bought the US facing gaming operation of Bodog and the Canadian issues.
