“Really good players have it easier on me”

Martin Staszko was out of nowhere at the WSOP runner-up prize of $ 5.4 million now, he returns as the star back to his homeland. Sympathetic to the Czechs, the crowds almost too much.

As Staszko climbed half a year ago for the first time an aircraft in the U.S., he was completely unknown internationally. Now his reputation is almost as high as that of Karel Gott.

This Staszko is no amateur, who has just lucky. With a history such as that of Darvin Moon does not compare to his. His factory job has abandoned the Czechs already almost two years ago to concentrate solely on his poker career.

His first notable cash generated in the Czech EPT Deauville in January 2010. In the main event, he reached 11th place It was followed by a 10th Place at the Unibet Open in Prague before moving on to the general attack WSOP felt ready.

This Staszko was above average success. Even before the main event, he had achieved in four events the money. The sudden stardom has overwhelmed him.

“Yes, I’m already a star, but it is quite a difficult time for me. There are far too many interview requests, and I have to do so much. ”

“In the first two weeks I had 50 interviews a day. Now there is something better, only 20 per day. I also had to occur in a number of television shows. Ultimately, there were so many requests that I had to cancel some of them. ”

Not only during the interviews Staszko has long since lost count. Sometimes he does not remember exactly where and what is actually played.

“I’ve played in England at any Championships, followed by the Czech Championship in Prague several side events in Hold’em and Omaha, but not the main event, because I had no time for it. And now here I am playing the WPT and the EPT thereafter. If these two major events are over, I’ll play again amplified online. ”

Then I finally got back my peace, seems to be hot.

Nevertheless, for Staszko nothing will be the same as before. As one of the November Nine Now he has the proverbial target on their forehead. This has advantages and disadvantages, as the runner-up notes with his characteristic mix of humility and confidence.

“For the really good players, it’s now really easy to play against me because they know that I play well. Before the WSOP, I had an advantage because no one knew me. ”

“Today, my opponents play totally different from me. Some players are afraid of me and fold almost everything, others want to fold my chips and absolutely nothing. At the table, much has changed. ”

As a multi-millionaire could Staszko sit back now and enjoy life. Could, mind you, because the schedule of the fdriven baked Team PokerStars member can be neither rest nor phases shopping trips to:

“I do not know what to do with the money. A car, a house? I still had no time to think about. Perhaps after the EPT. “
